FAQs

What is the Hospital Hospitality House?
The Hospital Hospitality House (HHH) is a “home away from home” available to patients and their loved ones staying in Richmond while undergoing medical treatment. Once a hotel, HHH has been renovated to provide most of the comforts of home.

Where is the Hospitality House?
HHH is located at 612 East Marshall Street in downtown Richmond, five blocks west of MCV Hospitals at the corner of 7th and Marshall Streets.

Where do I park?
Fifteen minute parking is available at the House for loading and unloading items during the check in or check out process. HHH does not provide day or overnight parking. MCV’s Patient and Visitor Parking Deck is located five blocks from HHH, at the corner of 12th and Clay Streets and is free to HHH guests. Parking is also available at the 5th and Marshall Street parking deck for a minimal amount per night. A free shuttle service runs between the Hospitality House and the MCV Hospitals on a regular daily schedule, and VCUHS hospital escort service is available to guests after shuttle hours of operation.

Where can I eat?
The HHH kitchens and pantry are stocked with food donated by local businesses. Families are welcome to prepare their own meals using the donated food. Guests may purchase, label and store food in the kitchen.

What is included in the lodging?
Most rooms have two beds, a private bath and an in-house phone for incoming and outgoing calls. Handicapped rooms are available upon request. Guests are responsible for keeping their room clean during their stay and may exchange their linen each day. Personal laundry facility is located on the 2nd floor for no charge.

How do I make a reservation?
Guests may stay as long as the patient is receiving continued medical treatment at a participating hospital. Referrals may be extended if deemed necessary by medical providers. A doctor, nurse, patient representative, hospital social worker or administrator must provide a referral to HHH. Guests may call 804.828.6901 at any time, day or night, to check on the status of their referral.

Can anyone stay at HHH?
Anyone may stay as long as they, or a family member, are receiving treatment at an affiliated hospital, have a current referral, and are at least 14 years of age, unless child is a patient staying on the pediatric floor. Guests must live outside of a 30 mile radius of downtown Richmond with exceptions granted on a case-by-case basis.

How much does it cost?
Guests are encouraged to give a $15-a-day minimum donation, but no one is turned away because of an inability to contribute.
